Hong Kong-based bunker supplier Sea Trader International Ltd. has acquired a 5,706 dwt double hull, ice class oil and chemical tanker to support its physical delivery operations at the Russian Far East region.
The Hong Kong-based company told Bunkerworld that the "acquisition is beneficial to the further development of Sea Trader".
"This new acquisition increases the tangible capital assets for Sea Trader and enables [and holds out] wider opportunities of further cooperation with its potential partner," said Simon Szeto, the company's managing director.
According to Szeto, the tanker was acquired via Sea Trader Tankers Ltd., a British Virgin Island incorporated subsidiary of Sea Trader International.
Szeto earlier told with Bunkerworld that he thought that sales of bunker fuels at Hong Kong port could fall as much as 1 million metric tonnes (mt) in 2012 due to local, regional and international factors.
